SHEIN’S MARKETPLACE USER RANKING POLICY

Effective Date: February 7, 2025
Last Updated: January 23, 2025

This Ranking Policy explains why certain products may appear more prominently than others on the SHEIN app and website (the “Platform”). By providing transparency, we aim to help our users (“you” or “our user”) make informed decisions and understand how their shopping experience is tailored to their preferences. This policy applies to all sellers who display products on the Platform.

Key Definitions

•Platform: The digital environment (website, mobile app) where the sellers display products, to users.

•Ranking: The position or visibility of products displayed to users in search results and product listings.

•Sponsored Content: Paid placements for increased visibility.

•Seller: businesses that list products for sale on the Platform.

•Customer/User: A user who visits the Platform to browse, purchase, or interact with products.

1. FACTORS AFFECTING PRODUCT RANKING

The visibility and ranking of products, within a page or section of the Platform, are determined by a range of equally prominent and weighted factors, including but not limited to:

A. Offer Attributes

Price Competitiveness: Products with competitive prices rank higher.

Availability & Stock: Products with a low level of stock rank higher than products with higher stock.

Newness: New arrivals come the first and the oldest styles will appear last.

Discounts & Promotions: Products with larger discounts or that participate in sales campaigns (like seasonal campaigns or flash sales) may receive temporary ranking boosts.

Delivery options (e.g. Quickship): Products with a quicker delivery option are more likely to be displayed at the top of search results.

B. Seller & Product Performance

•Seller’s rating: You have the ability to assess each seller after confirming the receipt of the product through reviews (please, see Reviews Policy here https://www.shein.se/Review-Guidance-a-478.html&ici=uk_navbar01menu02. Users’ complaints and delivery times affect the seller’s rating. For example, if a seller's rating is too low, this seller's products will be low ranked in comparison with the other sellers’ product.

One of the key sellers’ rating factor is the Choices label, which is a manner of categorization to which a seller can apply to, which highlights, by including the tag “Choices” on products and sellers within the Platform, those products and sellers that are highly rated by customers and have lower return rates. This label is temporary and the fulfillment of the label’s allocation criteria is reassessed from time to time.

•Overall seller’s performance: Overall seller performance is assessed through a combination of sales volume, customer feedback, fulfillment and return rates etc., reflecting their reliability and customer satisfaction. Consistent poor performance may reduce visibility.

C. User Interaction and Recommender System:

•User Journey : Based on the click-through rates and conversion rates identified as part of your user journey and its interaction with our recommender system, the number of clicks, add-to-cart actions and purchases on products may affect their ranking position.

  ○ Click-through Rates: The ratio of total clicks on search and display adverts divided by the total number of impressions.

  ○ Conversion Rates: Number of conversions divided by the total number of visitors.

•Search Query Matching: Offers that closely match the user's search query, browsing history and habits, filters or clicks are displayed higher in the results.

•Personalisation: Subject to your cookie settings and personalised settings related to our recommender system, our algorithm will factor in features such as your product preferences, search history, past purchases, and location to adjust product visibility. These automated decisions can impact the products you see and how they are ranked.

You have the right to adjust these decisions if you feel they do not reflect your preferences or needs by adjusting your personalisation settings at any time by clicking the “Recommender System and Personalised Settings” and “Manage Cookies” links, both are located at the bottom of this webpage or in the “Settings” section of the Platform.

Your personalisation preferences are subject to your cookie settings. For more information about how we use your data, please see our Privacy Policy https://www.shein.se/Privacy-Security-Policy-a-282.html.

2. PROMOTIONS AND SPONSORED CONTENT

The Platform does not allow the Sellers to boost the visibility of their offers/products via paid promotion; however Sellers can optimize their visibility on the Marketplace by making promotional offers on their products or receiving positive feedback from customers.

•Promotional offers: Sellers can run special promotions, such as discounts or limited-time deals, which may increase their products' visibility in sections like "Best Deals" or "Trending Now." These promotions are clearly marked to ensure you can easily identify them.

•Customer Feedback and ratings: Positive customer reviews and high ratings play a crucial role in boosting a seller's visibility. Products and sellers with consistently good feedback may appear higher in search results or be featured in sections like “Top Rated” or “Choices.

These promotional boosted products may appear in pre-designated slots on category pages, search results, and the homepage. When identical items are made available for sale on the Platform from two or more distinct Sellers, these identical items will be treated as totally different products subject to the same factors.

3. SORTING AND FILTERING OPTIONS FOR USERS

The Platform offers you a variety of ways to sort and filter search results, ensuring that users can have control over how they view products. Available sorting options include:

•Relevance or “Top rated”: based on the comment score and sales within the previous day.

•Price (low to high / high to low)

•New Arrivals

•Popularity or “Most sold”: based on the product's sales growth trend in the last 7-14 days.

•“Most Favourite”: based on the Wishlist inclusions and sales within the previous day.

Customers can also refine their search using filters for categories, sizes, colours, and other product attributes
