Review: From neckwear to chairwear... who knew silk ties make the best miniature upholstery! Episode 16, and here’s how I created these bespoke upholstered chairs & stools for this 1:12 scale Georgian room box. I started by assembling these fabulous kits from the wonderful @alisondaviesminiatures. Her kits are super easy to put together, and I love the styling and attention to detail. Once assembled, I gave them a coat of red primer before adding my favourite ‘Liquid Metal’ acrylic paint, mixed with bronze powder in Pale Gold, to create that rich gilded finish. For the seat pads, I cut down foam to create thin pieces for the seats and backs of the chairs. Then came one of my favourite parts... finding the perfect fabric😆 I’m always on the lookout for interesting fabrics with tiny prints or a very fine weave, as most fabrics look completely out of scale when used in miniature. I’ve discovered that silk ties are the perfect solution! I’ve spent weeks rummaging through charity shops looking fo
